Fruits You Can Grow in Northwest Arkansas

RedApplesThe first thing to know what grows well in the zone you are moving to.  The US Department of Agriculture has a plant hardiness zone map.
Click the state you are in and you will get a closer view of the zones for that state.  If you are still unsure you can type in the zip code and the website will give you the exact zone that you are in.  Arkansas has zones ranging from 6b to 8a acording to this website.  The Northwest Arkansas area is largely a 6b zone but its a good idea to type in the zip code to be sure.

The next stop is Fast Growing Trees. Going to the plant by state map will let you know what grows in your state.  Here are the fruit trees you can grow in Arkansas.  In this zone you can grow apples, peaches, pears, apricots, plums, and all sorts of berries.

In later posts I will talk about preparedness and the things you will need such as ball food storage jars.
