A Homestead Plan For 2019

plan2019Last year we decided that we wanted a change.  After several years of talk about leaving the city that we are in, we finally sold out home and purchased one in NW Arkansas.  Our main goal this year is to get out to NW Arkansas.  We pray that the Lord will bless us with the jobs that we need in order to get out there.  There may be a time where we will have less in terms of finances, so while we are still here our plan is to purchase things that will help us on the homestead.  I spent several months in 2018 learning and I still am but now it’s time for practice. Here are just a few things on our 2019 list.

  1. Harvest veggies from our garden and continue growing more food.
  2. Continue working on making New York style pizza at home. 🙂
  3. Continue learning and practicing how to make certain things from scratch.
  4. Buy tools and equipment a head of time since we do not know what our financial future holds.  This includes:
    1. Food Preservation tools
    2. Meat processing equipment
  5. Get rid of things that we do not need or use. There is no need to move with extra things.
  6. Get new jobs
  7. Move to NW Arkansas by the summer.

We pray that God will guide our steps in 2019 as we make these life changes.  May we grow closer to him and to his word.  Amen.

  1. Sounds like a plan. I’m sure that if you put your focus and energy behind it that you can make it happen. Hats off to you both and best of luck! Also definitely subscribe to the buying some stuff to support your new way of life now: I’m already eyeing up Kilner jars for our move in two years time. I know that I could just put the money away to buy these when we are there, but somehow I also feel that it would just get eaten up by something else..

    1. I completely agree. There are certain things that I know that we will need. So while we have the money, I will be making those investments. Thank you for your kind words of encouragement and good luck to you as well on your future homestead plans.

  2. This is so exciting! I did this back in ’02 moving from NE to AZ, again in ’08 from AZ to a different part of NE (with new family in tow), and again this fall to yet another part of NE. Best to you, we all know you will do well!

  3. You know I have a very special place in my heart for NW Arkansas. I drove through there from Albuquerque, NW to NY once and it was the most scenic just lovely drive. I think you will be sper happy there. You should do an interview with me on the Organic Gardener Podcast sometime.
